Fair Price Shops Association Zbto backs ANFPSA demand

Zunheboto, November 3 (MExN): The Fair Price Shops Association Zunheboto on Tuesday voiced support for the All Nagaland Fair Price Shop Association’s (ANFPSA) demand for release of pending payment for transportation and handling charges.

It stated that since the launch of National Food Security Act 2013, and its subsequent implementation in Nagaland, the Fair Price Shop dealers have been doing their best in serving the people as a middle person between the government and NFSA beneficiaries ration cards holder.

The dealers have been distributing food grains bearing all necessary expenditure from their own pockets keeping in mind that the amount spent would be reimbursed by the government as per the Act, a statement from the FPSA Zunheboto President Shitoyi Muru and General Secretary Hutovi Awomi stated.

However, it stated that the department has kept the payment for handling and transportation pending since 2018 till date.

“We are also surprised to know as to why the department has put on halt the sanction money of PMGKAY which has already been sanction since June 2020 meant for FPS dealers and transporter,” it added.

It asserted that the ‘delay tactics’ played by the department ‘cannot be tolerated anymore’.

Voicing its support for the Nagaland FPS Association’s demand, the Zunheboto FPSA appealed to the state government to respond within the stipulated time “in order to avoid chaos and commotion…”
