Deuteronomy: 7:9 know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who maintains covenant loyalty with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.
Faithfulness is one of the characteristics of God’s ethical nature. God is truth and his love is unconditional and faithful in keeping his covenant promises. God unchangeableness connects with goodness and mercy, and this is what the Old Testament and New Testament means by the faithfulness of God. While the Bible is clear that God’s faithfulness in the solid ground of our faith, it’s also clear that our faith gives God away to display his faithfulness.
So believers of God, What is faith? Faith is when man, uses his mouth to confess and that confession will bring to faith that will lead to grace that will lead to salvation. Are we saved today? We are saved through faith; found in Romans 10:8, 9 says, with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. Human beings so let see our faith and God’s Faithfulness that we cannot effort to forget ignore. God is faithful even we are faithless. But God shines his faithfulness in a special ways towards those who shows their faith in him.
God would have remained faithful if Daniel hadn’t had the courage to keep praying to God when he was told not to but because the Daniel had the faith to persist, he had a bird’s eye view to God’s faithfulness in the lions’ den.
Psalmist says in: Psalms 100:5 For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalms 36:5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. Lamentation 3:22, 23 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.
The faithfulness of God is also seen in the fact that God is true to His character. What is the character of God? One of the most powerful words to describe God’s character is his “steadfast love.” In Deuteronomy we read, “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who maintains covenant loyalty with those who love him and keep his commands, to a thousand generations.” This is one of many verses which connect God’s faithfulness to His loving kindness. These verses reveal that God is filled with compassion and we can count on God’s faithfulness to His love.
God told the Israel to cross the river Jordan to go and possess there possession. According to Joshua 3: 14-17; it was when the river was flooded, but despite all odds, God brought them through the Jordan in a miraculous way in line with his word and promise. However God’s promises get fulfilled irrespective of struggle, Challenges, stumble, hardship, oppress and humiliate. Are you holding un to God’s promise, for good environment, and you know what people seek Justice and peace of mind in their daily life rather than having easy solutions, you are confronted with a things that blocks one’s way. God’s word to Joshua 1:9 is also for us. I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
In the New Testament teaching concerning the faithfulness of God the same idea of faithfulness to his gracious promises is emphasized and help us the object of confidence trust in God. The faithfulness of God to his covenant promises is frequently emphasized by Paul. Both Jew and Gentile, the apostle had said, are on the same footing as regards justification. But the Jew had the great advantages in that they were the people to whom the Revelation of God’s gracious promises had been committed. These promises will certainly be fulfilled, notwithstanding the fact that some of the Jews were unfaithful, because the fulfillment of God, which cannot be made void by human faithless and unbelief. And to the supposition that man’s faithlessness could make of none effect God’s faithfulness.
Romans 3:4. By which Paul means to say that in the fulfillment of God’s promises, in spite of the faith that men are faithless of God will be abundantly vindicated, even though there by every men should be proven untrue and faithless. And not only so, but human faithlessness will give an opportunity for the manifestation of the faithfulness of God, abounding to his glory.
God would have remained faithful if peter hadn’t walked on the water. But because he had to step out of the boat, he got to see Jesus faithfulness in a way the other disciples didn’t. So we know that all things work together for good to those who love God. It is only a faithful person who truly believes that God sovereignty controls his circumstances. We take our circumstances for granted, saying God is in control, but not really believing it. Many Christians becomes very impatience when we talk about the faithfulness of God. Our lord is dethroned more deliberately by Christian workers than by the world. We tread God as if He were a machine designed only to bless us.
Followers of God, we should ask question but you know the entire question are not crucial. Why you are too much critical about who created God and existence of our Almighty God? When did God help you and you are so doubtful about the living God? Believers, Our God is a gracious God. He knows and controls everything; He is an infinite and Indescribable God. All we need to do is keep the faith in God and read the Holy Bible and you will find the answer.
The goal of faithfulness is not that we will do work for God, but that he will be free to do his work for God, but that he will be free to do his work through us. God calls us to his service and place tremendous responsibilities on us. He expects no complaining on our part and offers no expectation on his part. God wants to use us as he used his own son. Going to heaven must be our number one priority in this short life here on this earth. Nothing is as important Jesus says to “Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown’’ Revelation 3:11. John also ascribes this attribute to God. Since one of the most precious of God's promises through Christ is the pardon of sin through the "blood of Jesus Christ," John says that God's faithfulness, as well as His righteousness, is manifested in the forgiveness of sin.
The faithfulness of God is foundational to our faith. If we can’t trust what he says in the Bible, we have no reason to believe. IF he doesn’t keep his word, then our salvation is shaky and our hope is empty. But if God does fulfill his promises, then our faith is meaningful and our eternal destiny is secure.
