Dimapur, August 21 (MExN): The Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Dimapur today clarified that a video of a child with abnormal looking eye being circulated in whatsapp is fake.
The CIHSR management in a press release stated a background voice of a lady says that “the child was brought to CIHSR and after instilling eye drops, the child developed this grossly abnormal situation.” The statement made by the lady is “false”, the management said.
The release further clarified that the child was brought from Assam by the nuns of Missionaries of Charity on August 6 and 7 to the Ophthalmology department, CIHSR for the first time. “The child had a cancerous tumor on the right eye which had not been treated for a very long time. Several investigations were done and discussion of further treatment was going on when this video was created and circulated by the third party,” it maintained.
“We do not know the intention behind making such a claim but it is baseless and uninformed,” the release further alleged.
Meanwhile, the management informed that a complaint has been lodged with the police and expressed that the culprit and the source of the video will be found soon.
The management has, therefore, appealed the public not to be “misled by this fake video” and cautioned that such similar videos are likely to continue to be generated in the future through social media to “malign individuals or organizations”.
The release also urged the public to be vigilant and responsible in not forwarding such videos.
