Farmers attend training cum demonstration at Sapotimi village

Zunheboto, May 19 (MExN): ATMA, Suruhuto Block, Zunheboto in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaland University, Lumami organised training cum demonstration at Sapotimi village on May 17.

Khenito, Convener, ATMA chaired the programme, Honishi, women leader pronounced invocation prayer and Pukhato Head G.B. gave welcome address. The resource persons of the training were Edenly Chishi, SMS (Horticulture), Sentimenla, SMS (Soil Science) and Narola Anichari, Programme Assistant, all from KVK Zunheboto.

In the first session, Edenly Chishi spoke on post harvest management of horticultural crops. She emphasized more on the reasons of the losses of fruits and vegetables after harvest due to inappropriate harvesting, mishandling of produce, seasonal over-production and improper storage and marketing facilities and informed that these losses can be reduced if proper post harvests management factors like storing-grading, fungicides treatment, waxing, packaging and storage is done.

Sentimenla discussed on the importance of soil testing and vermin composting for maintaining soil fertility. Narola Anichari briefed on Soymilk and its health benefits. She explained to the farmers that Soymilk contains highest amount of protein as compared to any grain or legume and it is also useful for prevention and treatment of many chronic diseases.

Farmer Nitoshe concluded the programme with sharing and vote of thanks. Altogether 60 participants attended the programme.
