Mon, September 8 (MExN): A Farmers’ Field School (FFS) was launched at Naginimora, Mon by the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Office, Department of Agriculture on September 7.
Phukha Lam, EAC Naginimora, who attended the programme as a special invitee, called upon the farmers to minimize the use of chemicals and adopt integrated approach of crop production.
H. Lawrence, SDAO Naginimora explained on the concept and features of FFS, which is a participatory approach adopted for efficient dissemination of improve agricultural package of practices taking into account the specific need of the area. It is a flexible non-lecture based using the field that allows the ‘field to be the teacher.’
Introductory Integrated Pest Management training on Rice crop was also conducted in the paddy field of Phamyu Konyak where hands on identification of insect pest and beneficial insects of rice crop and field monitoring techniques were done. Around 25 farmers actively participated in the exercise.
