A training programme focused on modern horticulture practices was conducted at the Community Managed Training Centre (CMTC) in Jalukie Town on April 17.

JALUKIE, APRIL 17 (MExN): A training programme focused on modern horticulture practices was conducted on April 17 at the Community Managed Training Centre (CMTC) in Jalukie Town, Peren. Organized by Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited (BKSL) Nagaland, the training was held for members of the Ahthibung Farmers Producer Company Limited, with 50 participants representing five villages.
The initiative aimed to equip farmers with knowledge on crop planning, selection, and cultivation suited to the region's climate and resources. Izaile, a Horticulture Inspector and the first resource person, addressed topics such as pest and disease susceptibility, crop rotation, and companion planting. She also emphasized the importance of agri-entrepreneurship and informed participants about government schemes and financial support available for horticulture farming.
Sashienla L. Longkumer, Horticulture Inspector from the District Horticulture Office in Peren, served as the second resource person. Her session covered good agricultural practices (GAP), sustainable farming methods, post-harvest management, value addition, soil and seedling management and the application of bio-fertilizers.
The two-day training on “Modern Technologies of Horticulture” was supported by the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Dimapur, under the Ministry of Horticulture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
The programme concluded with remarks of appreciation from Silas Pame, Board Chairman of the Jalukie Farmers Producer Company Limited, who thanked the resource persons and participants for their engagement.
