FAW infestation ‘very high’ in Chedema and Rüsoma

Kohima, May 23 (MExN): The District Agriculture Office Kohima, Department of Agriculture conducted a field survey on the recent outbreak of Fall Armyworm (FAW) along with central team on May 20. 

The team observed visited and surveyed Chedema village of Kohima Block and Rüsoma village of Chiephobouzou Block. 
It was observed that the “infestation was very high and immediate management measures are needed to be applied.”

The team advice the farmers to collect data of the affected area of the village and submit in the office and collect chemicals for immediate control measure as other management option was observed to be uneconomical observing the level of infestation. Central team from Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine and Storage collected sample for further observation, researched and recommendation.

DAO Kohima in a press release stated that the survey was conducted comprising the team of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) expert L. Nungsang Jamir, Deputy Director from Directorate of Agriculture, Agriculture Inspector, Mhalevilie Thorie, Agriculture Field Assistant, Colie Luho from District Agriculture Office and Agriculture Field Assistant, Abounuo Vimera from Chiephobouzou block and Officials from Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine and Storage, Dimapur Dr. Mukesh Babu, Plant Protection Officer, Kiachang, Scientific Assistant, Imlirenla, Scientific Assistant.
