Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, welcomed its newest members, the Class of 2026, with a Freshers’ day programme held at the College Auditorium under the theme “Chasing Dreams” on August 18.
Addressing the freshers, Dr I Wati Imchen, Principal, Fazl Ali College (FAC) described their entry into college as the beginning of an extraordinary chapter in their lives. He said the students were not merely entering a college to obtain a degree but were stepping into a launchpad for the future where they could pursue their passions and discover their purpose.
Emphasising that the true purpose of college extends beyond academic qualifications, Dr Imchen encouraged the students to actively engage with campus life. He said that purpose is rarely found by simply sitting in a classroom, but through action, curiosity and engagement. He urged the freshers to fill their college years with meaningful experiences, noting that while classrooms teach fundamentals, campus life teaches resilience and confidence.
Imdangmeren, General Secretary, Fazl Ali College Students’ Union (FACSU), in his address, reminded the freshers that they were not expected to have their entire lives figured out upon entering college. He said students may enter with certain dreams, discover new aspirations along the way, or realise that the dreams they initially had may not ultimately define who they truly are. He urged the freshers to remain open to new experiences and opportunities as they navigate their college journey.
Speaking on behalf of the freshers, Molongnen Longkumer, BSc 1st Semester, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to the new students and acknowledged the beginning of a new chapter in their academic journey.
After the formal session, Mr & Ms Fresher 2026 was crowned in the informal session after four rounds which included the Ethnic, casual, formal and question round. Molupong Longkumer from the Department of English was crowned Mr. Fresher 2026 while Langmai Khumla from the Department of History was crowned Ms Fresher 2026.
The event concluded a vote of thanks delivered Akumzulu Jamir, Assistant Social Service Secretary, FACSU.
