Noklak, October 23 (MExN): The Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) headquarters, Noklak, on Friday began the first phase of its agitation by closing the PWD (R&B) Office in Noklak, citing an unsatisfactory reply from the Department of Public Works Department (Roads & Bridges) to a seven-day ultimatum served on October 12, 2026.

The union said the department failed to address questions regarding the closure of the Chendang Saddle Noklak-Pangsha (Phase-II) Road Project and the Noklak-Thonoknyu Road via Sanglao, which were also raised as a starred question by MLA and Advisor Achumbemo Kikon during the 14th House of the 9th Nagaland Legislative Assembly session.

The KSU Media Cell said it will further intensify its agitation until the department provides clear answers on the details of land compensation that led to the closure of the road project, identification of the NGO/organisations responsible for halting work for four years, and details of the sanctioned amount utilised for construction, including area and location.

The union cautioned that the Department of PWD (R&B) shall be held fully responsible for any untoward incidents or public inconvenience arising from its failure to resolve the issues and provide transparency.
