Plans to hold mass youth rally post-exams
Dimapur, February 16 (MExN): A new ‘collective movement of concerned Naga youths’ - the ‘Fed-Up Nagas’ has called upon the Government of India to implement the agreements already signed with the Naga people.
The movement, which describes itself as a peaceful and democratic initiative, arises from a shared conviction that addressing social evils within Naga society is intrinsically linked to bringing a just and honourable conclusion to the long-standing Naga political issue, which it maintains “stands concluded in principle.”
In a statement, The Fed-Up Nagas appealed to the Government of India to “act with sincerity and responsibility, and to refrain from divisive approaches that foster misunderstanding and discord among the Nagas.” It cautioned that continued delay weakens collective strength and accelerates disintegration.
The Fed-Up Nagas functions as a collective movement guided by a core group of like-minded youths without hierarchy, titles, or official positions, the statement added. It emphasised that any concerned Naga youth can be part of this core and contribute meaningfully to the movement. The body claimed to represent “Naga youths as a whole,” without tribal, organisational or political affiliation, with participants standing solely as individuals united by shared concern.
In view of the ongoing HSLC and HSSLC examinations, the movement stated it will continue with awareness and mobilisation campaigns in a responsible manner until the examinations. Immediately thereafter, it plans to organise a “mass youth rally” and submit memorandums and representations to relevant authorities as peaceful and democratic demands for a timely and honourable resolution.
The collective has also requested prayer support from all churches and the general Naga public, seeking divine guidance, wisdom, and unity in the pursuit of permanent peace.
The Fed-Up Nagas reiterated its commitment to non-violence, unity and constructive engagement, seeking solidarity from all sections of society who believe in truth, justice, and the collective future of the Naga people.
