Field Outreach Bureau Kohima observes National Unity Day

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 31 (MExN): Along with the rest of the country, Field Outreach Bureau Kohima, in collaboration with Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Kohima, jointly organised National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) at JNV Hall Kohima on October 31.

In his keynote address, Principal In Charge, JNV, Kohima, Besü Kollo said that National Unity Day is celebrated every year on October 31 to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He said the objective of the celebration is to maintain the nation's unity and aims to spread awareness about Patel's contribution to Indian History. 

Addressing the gathering as the resource person, Arun Kumar, PGT-History highlighted the history and essence of National Unity Day, and further spoke on Patel's contribution in making a united India. Kumar stated that Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was introduced by the Government of India in 2014 where the Home Ministry mentioned that the Day "will provide an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength, and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country". Focusing on Patel's contribution, Kumar highlighted that Patel was instrumental in making a united India from 565 semi-autonomous princely states and British era colonial province. 

Speaking on the occasion, P Sophie, In Charge, FOB Kohima informed that this year will mark the 146th anniversary of the Iron Man of India. 

Commemorating the day, a quiz competition was also organised where in the Class 10 category, Udaigiri house won the first prize. Aravali and Shivalik House secured the second prize while Nilgiri House bagged the third prize. 

In the Class 12 category, the first position was secured by Nilgiri House. The second prize was bagged by Aravali House, followed by Shiwalik House securing the third position. 

The program was compered by Atheni, PGT Economics while the vote of thanks was proposed by Prem Kumar, PGT English.
