Final resolution of the Naga case rests with God: NNC

President Gen (Retd) Thinoselie M Keyho greets on NNC 's 76th Anniversary

Kohima, February 1 (MExN): The final resolution of the Naga Case rests solely in God Almighty’s Hand, Naga National Council (NNC) President Gen (Retd) Thinoselie M Keyho stated on Tuesday, even as he noted that the NNC alone “can and would unite all the Nagas sooner than later.”

In a message on the eve of the 76th occasion of setting up of the Naga National Council (NNC) on February 2, the president noted that it is the “soberest of facts that Nagas can never prevail against the mighty India in physical combat.”

However, he asserted that the “Almighty God has a definite plan to manifest His might through the agency of the Nagas” and noted that it was a setting “Nagas free” was spoken through prophecy.

“Now the onus is squarely on the GoI whether to believe the prophetic utterances or otherwise,” Gen (Retd) Keyho.

“As for the Nagas, come whatever may, in the Omnipotent Name of God, we would keep marching forward till we finally arrive at our goal and destination,” he added.

Meanwhile, greeting the Nagas on the occasion, Gen (Retd) Keyho further stated that the NCC has “been the first and the only Nagaland Political Organisation and the only authentic Political Institution, having the absolute mandate and blessings of the people.”

He further cited declaration of ‘Independent status on August 14, 1947’; Naga Plebiscite of May 16, 1951; Rejection of the Indian General Election of 1952; Formation of the Federal Republic Government of Nagaland on March 22, 1956; and Entering into the Nation to Nation Ceasefire with the Government of India (GoI) on September 6, 1964 as some of its epoch- making achievements.

Universally, there never had ever been any history without its legal and/or rightful owner. All the above mentioned acts of histories have their origin in and ownership of the NNC, he pointed out.

The NNC President also  noted that while  “quite a few of the fast spawning ‘organisations’ hold claims to these achievements”  they “would miserably fail to acknowledge their true ownership which lead to and render them parentless most pathetic.”

“NNC alone can and would unite all the Nagas sooner than later. NNC had been the first ever and would be the ultimate entity standing tall most absolute,” he asserted.

He also accused the  GoI of “having learned the obnoxious policy of ‘divide and rule’ from her task masters of yore” and practising and perfecting  “with improvisations” and not only dividing the Nagas “most effectively but goes even further to pitch one group against the other(s) most nefariously.”

The birth of the Naga Peoples’ Convention, then 16-Point Agreement, as well in the granting Statehood in 1963 were cited as such actions.

“What was most glaringly awkward and sinisterly conspicuous had been the absence of the NNC and the FGN,” and the act of granting “statehood had been very much a “one sided” affair, most foul,” Gen (Retd) Keyho argued.

“The NNC and FGN did never recognise this act even in the smallest way,” he said, adding that the former had “condemned the same in the strongest sense of the term.”

“The NNC’s and FGN’s eternal stand is ever steadfast – Full Sovereignty,” he added.
