Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): In what was stated to be the “final status” in the Vigilance Commission’s (Anti-Corruption) probe into the ‘bogus teachers’ scam, the commission today said that out of 5056 graduate and undergraduate teachers, 3,023 have been found genuine, 514 teachers under various categories of “doubtful” and 1, 520 under various categories of “Bogus (Illegal appointments)”.
The final report does not include the status of 1084 teachers who did not report to the SIT Vigilance for verification. This category was treated as “absent teachers” in the SIT’s preliminary report submitted to the government in February 2010, an official notification from JI Yaden, Director & DIGP of Vigilance & Anti-corruption stated.
“These categories of teachers were verified by the State Verification Committee (SVC) & District Verification Committee (DVC) of the School Education department. The findings of the SVC & DVC of the School Education dept. have not been intimated to the SIT Vigilance for taking up the criminal liability of those involved, if any,” the notification said.
The commission also clarified that the SIT Vigilance is not involved “in any manner whatsoever” with the recent appointment of teachers under the School Education department as published in the local media. “This is not a part of its task,” it stated. The SIT has not received the status report of “1084 absent” teachers from the Education department, the commission informed.
