Financial literacy camp for women held

Promoting sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural development  

Khonoma, January 28 (MExN): One day financial literacy camp was held on January 27 at Khonoma Village for the women organized by the Nagaland State Social Welfare Board, NMDFC and SRCW supported under FIF managed by NABARD.  

The camp was organized to equip the women folk with the various help enabling them to improve and promote sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural development, informed a press release received here.  

Resource person Bendang Aier, AGM NABARD shared on importance of financial planning and said that proper financial planning helps to set short and long term financial goals which helps in proper utilization of finance and in setting their goals which clarify their ideas to focus on their wants and needs. 

He emphasized on digital payment and cashless transaction and encouraged the participants to use SMART Goals for financial goals. He further highlighted on Social Security Schemes and its benefits. Kevi Hibo, Assistant Branch Manager, IC, Nodal centre Kohima NSCB Ltd. gave a talk on the significance of banking and shared that banking sector is the best channel to give awareness on various Government scheme to the rural areas and the various Loans provided by the bank with low interest for development of the agricultural sector.  

Bano Vinito Chishi, Chairperson, NSSWB, shared on the topic “My concern for women Self Help group and entrepreneur”. She cited some successful stories of how women were able to improve their Socio-Economic status and their increasing income. She encouraged the women to continue Self Help Group and to avail loans in establishing their own enterprise.  

The programme started with invocation prayer by president of Khonoma Women Union. A keynote address was delivered by Asalie A Kruse, Project Manager, NSSWB, highlighting about National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Cerina Belho gave brief introduction on Women Help Line 181 One Stop centre and Child Line 1098. It culminated with vote of thanks pronounced by Kenei Mezhur, NSSWB.
