Dimapur, November 16 (MExN): A fire broke out in Purana Bazar, Dimapur on Monday afternoon, razing four kutcha houses and leaving 14 families homeless.
According to a press release from the RO (E), Fire & Emergency Services, Kenny Khing, a fire call was received at around 12:30 pm on Monday following which a quick response team comprising of four fire tenders along with sufficient equipments and fire personnel from Fire Station Dimapur (Central) and Fire Station Dimapur (West) were pressed into action.
Properties worth approximately Rs 40 lakh were destroyed in the fire that gutted four houses and left 14 families homeless.
The release informed that it took the fire team one and half hour to bring the fire under control and salvage property worth Rs 20 lakh. The team also managed to prevent LPG cylinders from exploding and averted further spread of fire.
It said that no casualties were reported and attributed the cause of fire to an electrical short circuit.
The response team was led by Duty Commander, SI Kelesezo Tsükrü and ASI K Hito Zhimomi, it added.
