Kohima, January 18 (DIPR): A fire broke out in the Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms Branch (P&AR) at the Civil Secretariat Nagaland at around 7:30 a.m. today the 18th January 2013. 80% of Service Books and personal files of NSS and NCS were badly affected due to the fire incident.
Fire service pressed into action immediately after the information and doused off the fire in time. Home Commissioner said that the cause of the incident could not be ascertained at the moment but an enquiry committee has been set up to go into detail headed by Special Secretary, Home.
The Government of Nagaland has constituted an Inquiry Committee with the following officers to inquire into the fire incident that took place in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat on 18th January 2013. It will be ehaded by L. Singsit, Special Secretary (Home) as Convenor. Members include Neilasa Sopfu, DIG, Fire Service, Er. Thiya Jamir, Inspector, Electrical Inspectorate Office and Er. Rokongutuo Suohu, EE Kohima (Electrical Division).
The report of the committee should inter-alia contain the following points: Cause of the fire, whether any foul play is suspected, preventive measures that can be taken to prevent similar incidents in future. The Committee will submit its report by 28th January 2013.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland Secretariat Services Association (NSSA) is deeply shocked and aggrieved by the unfortunate fire incident that broke out in the morning hours of 18th January, 2013, in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Complex, leading to destruction of important official documents and service records in the P&AR Department.
While expressing its solidarity with the officers and staff of the P&AR Department, a press note from Imti Longchar, President, NSSA has made a fervent appeal to all members of the association to extend their cooperation to the Department/State Government and bear with the subsequent inconvenience as a result of the incident.
The prompt reporting by the Security Personnel (CRPF) on duty and the timely response by the Fire Services Department & Personnel in containing the fire is has been appreciated and duly recorded, stated the press note.
