Phek, October 10 (MExN): A fire broke out in Khulazu Basa village under Phek district and gutted two houses at around 3:30 am on October 10.
The fire was suspected to have been caused from the cardamom dryer machine in one of the house, informed Village Council Chairman Vechohu Chuzho.
Upon seeing the fire, the villagers rushed to the spot and doused off the fire from spreading further. However, the two houses were completely razed down as it could douse off at the beginning the fire broke out, he said.
About Rs 16 lakh worth property was damaged and there were no reports of injuries, he added.
Meanwhile, neighbouring villages have contributed relief materials in cash and kinds like blankets, utensils, rice etc to the two families. The VCC expressed gratitude to the neighbouring villagers for their contribution and support.
He also said that the District Administration Chetheba town came for spot verification of the incident. The villagers started constructing new houses for the two families on the same day and will continue in the following days, he added.
