Fire razes down saw mill in Dimapur

Dimapur, March 17 (MExN): A saw mill was gutted down on Wednesday in a fire incident at 7th Mile, near Ashok Leyland showroom, Dimapur. 

According to a press release issued by Kenny Khing, RO (E) (F&ES), Kohima, on receiving fire call, the team from Fire Station Chümoukedima, Dimapur (Central) and Fire Station Dimapur (West) proceeded to control the fire. 

Six fire tenders along with sufficient equipments and fire personnel were pressed into action. One saw mill along with machinery, furniture log, generator and heat chamber were lost in the inferno. It was reported that property worth Rs 25 lakh approximately was lost. 

Due to timely information and response, fire was controlled and prevented from spreading to the surrounding labour quarters; Khing informed while adding that property worth Rs 5 lakh approximately could be salvaged. 

Electrical short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire. No casualty reported.

The response team was led by Duty Commander SI, C Baushong Phom, ASI K Hito Zhimomi and ASI T Jonaba.
