First Kisan Rail special train arrives in Dimapur on Jan 30

Maligaon, January 30 (MExN):  The Kisan Rail special train between Tarakeswar in West Bengal and Dimapur which was introduced by the Indian Railways left on January 29 and was scheduled to reach Dimapur on January 30, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) CPRO Subhanan Chanda informed in a press release on Saturday.

The 00329 Tarakeswar - Dimapur Kisan Rail Special Train (weekly) will leave Tarakeswar at 10:00 hrs every Friday to reach Dimapur on the next day. During the return journey, 00330 Dimapur-Tarakeswar Kisan Rail Special Train (weekly) will leave Dimapur at 21:30 hrs every Saturday from January 30 and reach Tarakeswar at 7:10 hrs the next day.

The train will stop at Bandel, Ambika Kalna, Nabadwip Dham, Purbasthali, Katwa, Azimgunge, Azimgunge City, Malda Town, New Jalpaiguri, New Coochbehar, New Bongaingaon, Guwahati and Lumding enroute in both directions for loading/unloading of parcels.

The primary objective of running Kisan Rail trains is to increase the income in farm sector by connecting production centres to markets and consumption centres, the CPRO informed.

The first Kisan Rail train was flagged off on August 7, 2020 between Devlali (Maharastra) and Danapur (Bihar). These Kisan Rail trains services have been introduced on 18 routes so far. 

This is a multi-commodity, multi-consignor/consignee, multi-loading/unloading transportation product which is aimed at providing wider market to the farmers.  Primary commodities being transported via Kisan Rail are onion, tomato, oranges, potato, pomegranate, banana, custard-apple, carrots, capsicum, and other vegetables. A subsidy of 50% is being granted on the transportation of fruits and vegetables via Kisan Rail, the release informed.

The Kisan Rail special train to and from Dimapur will run till July 30, it added.
