First trip to Nagaland has captured my heart even more: Dr AR Rahman
Grammy and Oscar Awards winning musician, Dr AR Rahman in a letter dated December 12, 2019 addressed to Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said he have been in love with the North East for many years, “and this, my first trip to Nagaland has captured my heart even more.”
Dr Rahman “personally” thanked Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and H Khehovi Yepthomi “for making this inspirational trip possible.”
“It has been an honour and privilege for me to have been invited to Nagaland to close the legendary Hornbill Festival and to spend time learning about the state, its people and culture. I would like to personally thank you and H Khehovi Yepthomi for making this inspirational trip possible. The planning and execution of all the activities under the guidance of Abu Metha and Theja Meru has ensured a flawless visit,” read the letter appended by Dr Rahman and Fathima Rafiq, Executive Director, KM Music Conservatory and Trustee, the AR Rahman Foundation.
“I find myself moved by the passion and vibrancy of the many places I saw and the people I interacted with. Meeting the kids from the Kohima Orphanage, I was captivated by their love and voices.”
Rahman also felt inspired by the beauty and serenity of the surrounding nature while visiting Khonoma village, the letter said.
“Most importantly,” Rahman have been convinced that the young people of Nagaland are hungry to take their creativity further. “With the continuing support of yourself and the efforts of your learn in the Government and TaFMA, I hope that this is just the start of a long and meaningful journey together,” it concluded.
It may be mentioned that Dr Rahman, Director, The AR Rahman Foundation and Founder & Principal of KM Music Conservatory made his first trip to Nagaland on December 9, 2019. He was invited by the State Government to grace the closing ceremony of Hornbill Festival as the special guest on December 10, 2019.
