Workers mining boulder in the Chathe River in Chümoukedima had a narrow escape from a flash flood during Monday’s torrential rain. According to locals, two trucks were caught unaware and washed downstream after the river swelled rapidly. It happened somewhere between Kukidolong and Chümoukedima police checkpost.
The two trucks were parked on the river to be loaded with boulders. Fortunately, the workers operating the trucks could escape.
