With Mother's Day just around the corner and flowers starting to bloom at its best, the Naga Flower Grower's Society (NFGS) launched their 3 days exhibition cum sale of flowers today at The Heritage, Kohima.

Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse opined that the most important aspect about growing flowers was giving women a way to earn, improve their life and dignity.

Kruse said women also need to have a source of income as not everyone would have a government or private job and some also, despite being educated do not get the opportunity to do a full time job.

She felt that it was time to train women more than before so that women can start and earn something at home to leverage one's livelihood and dignity.

Lauding the flower growers in Nagaland as being very skilled and experienced, she at the same time assured to extend help and support to the society and called to work together to reach greater heights.

Kaisa Rio, Advisor to NFGS expressed confidence that floriculture will get an impetus considering the potential it has in the market. Kaisa encouraged the growers to be consistent in rearing and caring of flowers and make it into a serious trade for Nagaland.

She espoused confidence that through the concerted efforts of the Horticulture department and all concerned, floriculture will make a big impact on the economic growth of farmers.
