FMD vaccination campaign reaches Samziuram village

Peren, October 5 (MExN): Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Peren organized programme for the launching of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination under National Animal Diseases Control Program (NADCP) at Samziuram village on October 5. 

Dr Arun Kumar Sangwan, Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie delivered the keynote address while launching the vaccination campaign. Dr H Toluvi Ayemi, Chief Veterinary Officer, Peren, chaired the programme. Dr Namsui Thou, Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer delivered the vote of thanks.

On this occasion, Dr A Sangwan explained about the NADCP for FMD. The aim of NADCP is to control FM D by 2025 with vaccination and its eventual eradication by 2030. He sought the cooperation and help of all the villagers for the programme. Under this programme all the cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats and pigs of the country will be vaccinated twice a year. On this occasion, Dr Eyekhweshe Kepfoh, Dr Asalie, Dr Yovino Mekro, Dr Suilube and other staff members of the department and villagers were present. 

The programme was launched by vaccinating a cow with the FMD vaccine at the Samzuiram Village Council Hall.
