Tsarü village celebrates Tsang-Rii Mübü Thüpcheh

MOKOKCHUNG, AUGUST 14 (MExN): Tsarü village celebrated the Tsang-Rii Mübü Thüpcheh at the Tsarü Village Community Hall on Thursday, with Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Metsübo Jamir, as the special guest and Advisor for Information & Technology, Economics & Statistics, and Evaluation, Sethrongkyü Sangtam, as the guest of honour.

In his address, Jamir extended greetings to the gathering and recalled that his father, NI Jamir’s favourite village after his native Longsa was Chare. He said attending the pre-harvest festival was the outcome of a relationship built between his father’s generation and that of the village elders, adding that it was like “harvesting the fruits of that long-standing bond.”

He said his father was so close to the people of Chare village that he became like one of its own, and that the trust and relationship built between the two villages in earlier days had led to the present celebrations together.

On the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) issue, Jamir said it was different from Indian independence or the granting of Nagaland statehood, adding that it was not about separation but understanding and working together. He said there were misconceptions that FNT would create a separate Nagaland, a separate FNT or a separate eastern region, but “whether FNT comes or not, we will remain together as Nagaland.”

He likened the process to an examination, saying separation teaches people to value, love, and understand each other more, as well as share responsibilities and burdens. He urged the gathering to be courageous, to remember their parents’ contributions, and to keep bonds strong.

Jamir also announced several development initiatives for Chare village, including the establishment of a Panchayat Learning Centre for youth, a Rs 50-lakh piggery farming project for womenfolk, and the construction of approach roads in and around the village. He added that the Detailed Project Report for the road from Meyilong to Chare might be nearing completion and hoped work would commence soon. He also hinted that Advisor Sethrongkyü Sangtam would look into the main road.

Short speeches were delivered by Sangtam, Head GB L. Nungshi, and Extra Assistant Commissioner of Chare, Zerutso Kesiezie. The welcome address was delivered by Tsarü Village Council Chairman I. Mendang Sangtam.

The celebration featured cultural presentations by various groups, while Changse Head Barrick spoke on the significance of Tsang-Rii Mübü Yukhe.
