Food and Civil Supplies dept clarifies

Dimapur, March 25 (MExN): In connection with a list of 1833 applicants to the additional commissioner, Pfutsero on June 14, 2010 requesting for issuance of ration cards under APL/BPL/AAY schemes, the Food and Civil Supplies department has clarified that the state government or the department of Food and Civil Supplies, Nagaland have no authority to issue Additional Cards under BPL/AAY schemes.
In a rejoinder, the additional director of the department stated that the government has allotted APL monthly allocation for the whole district, the concerned department on approval of the district administration sub-allocation is being made by the Fair Price Shops for genuine Ration Card holders, those who have not covered by BPL and AAY schemes.
As per the directives of the Government of India 76500 Nos of beneficiaries under BPL have been verified with the joint involvement of district administration, departmental officials/town committee in the urban areas and village councils in the rural areas. All the deserving beneficiaries are regularly drawing entitlement from their Fair price Shops and village councils on monthly basis, he stated.
He also stated that AAY, as per the directives of Government India 47500 Nos. of deserving beneficiaries have been identified by the joint efforts as stated above and they are regularly  getting their entitlement from respective Fair price Shops and village councils.
The State Government is getting the exact quantity of food grains for the above schemes from the Food Corporation of India. Additional identification for the same can be possible as and when received from the Government of India, he added in a press note.
