Chümoukedima, May 30 (MExN): An exhibition football match between Aizawl FC and Nagaland United Sports Club (NUSC) will be held at Chumoukedima Football Stadium on June 6 as part of the “Peace Pays” initiative aimed at promoting unity and supporting a social cause.
The match, scheduled to kick off at 7 pm, will bring together football enthusiasts, players and supporters from across the region for an evening celebrating sport, community and regional solidarity.
According to the organisers, the exhibition fixture will feature players from Aizawl FC alongside leading football talents from Nagaland representing NUSC.
The “Peace Pays” initiative seeks to use football as a platform for fostering unity, compassion and togetherness across the Northeast. Tickets for the match have been priced at Rs 20 to ensure wider public participation.
Proceeds from the event will be utilised to support an orphanage, while the match itself is intended to highlight football’s role in connecting communities and promoting social causes.
The programme will also pay tribute to late N William Koso, former assistant coach of Aizawl FC, member of the governing body of the Nagaland Super League (NSL), and one of Nagaland’s most accomplished football coaches.
As part of the wider Football for Peace initiative, Aizawl FC will also take on Mon XI in an exhibition match at Pangti Astro Turf in Mon district on June 2. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 pm and is expected to provide football fans in the district an opportunity to witness top-level football action.
The June 6 fixture has been themed “Two Clubs. One Cause.” Organisers have invited the public to attend the event and support the charitable initiative.
Aizawl FC’s squad includes captain Vanlalhritpui, T Lalmuanawma, C Zomuanpui, Malsawmzuala Tlangte, Stephen Lalrifela, Eri Remruatpui, Laltlanzova, H Lalruatfela, Vicent Lalduhawma, Lalhruailuanga, H Lalrempui, Laldanmawi, Zomuansanga, Lalawmpui Sailo, K Vanlalhritzuala, Rohmingthanga and RH Laltlanhlua.
The team will be guided by head coach R Lalruatfela, assisted by David Lalrimuana and Samuel Lalringheta Fanai, while F Lalrimawi will serve as team manager.
NUSC’s squad comprises Mengulhokho, Neithovilie Chalieu, Benri Lotha, Katoho, Meren, Thejangulie Zatsu, Salangwati, Bapen, Meno, Hivika, Ghuqhe Chishi, Kevisanyu Peseyie, Sentilong, Ngangsang Phom, Arap Konyak, Yhoto Lohe and Visalie.
The Nagaland side will be coached by Khwetelhi Thopi, a B Licence holder, with Kakai serving as assistant coach.
