Foothill Road: Work momentum slowed down due to early Monsoon

DIMAPUR, JUNE 23 (MExN): The Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) held a meeting with the PWD (R&B) and the concerned contractor firms on June 22 to review progress of the ongoing works.

A press release from the NFHRCC informed that division wise progress of the works was shared by the respective EEs and contractor firms. It was informed that work momentum had slowed down due to early arrival of the Monsoon. It was decided that the final completion and inauguration of the Doyang Bridge at Governor’s camp would be discussed by the department, the contractor firm and the committee at an appropriate time.

The committee also informed the department on the immediate need for a culvert between Niuland and Hovekhu village; along with the need for repair works at the hanging bridge over the Dikhu River, Naginimora division.

Another issue discussed was the deplorable road condition on the aligned Foothills Road between Athibung and Khelma.

The release of running bills to the Contractors based on the progress report was also discussed. The department assured that it would sort out the matter with the higher authorities for an early intervention on the issue.

The department, the contractors and the committee also resolved conduct a re-survey visit, especially in the Baghty division and some other sectors as soon as the rains stop.
