DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 12 (MExN): Veteran politician and former Minister, T Talinungsang passed away in Dimapur on February 12 after a prolonged illness. He was elected to represent the people of Tuli Assembly Constituency for a record five times between 1977 and 2003.

 

A send off service for the late Talinungsang is scheduled to be held on February 13 at 8:00 am in his private residence located at House No 33, next to East Dimapur Ao Baptist Church, Purana Bazaar, Dimapur. Thereafter, the funeral service will be held in Kangtsung Village, Mokokchung district on February 14.

 

Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio in a condolence message stated that late Talinungsang was a committed student leader, a sincere government servant and later joined politics and went on to become a Minister in the Government of Nagaland.

 

“He was a fine gentleman with a soft spoken personality and he made friends across the spectrum. In his death, the people of Nagaland have lost a good and prominent public leader, who loved and served the public for many years with zeal and commitment,” the CM said.

 

“Late T. Tali was a former colleague and a personal friend. I still recollect many fond memories of our times together during the years when worked together. The void left by his death will be difficult to fill,” he added.

 

The Chief Minister also expressed his condolences and prayed for strength to the bereaved family members.

 

Following the news of his passing away, condolence messages poured in from across the political spectrum including Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton; MP to the Lok Sabha, Tokheho Yepthomi; NLA Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer; NDPP President, Chingwang Konyak, NPCC President, K Therie among others.
