Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): Former Assistant General Secretary and Finance in-charge of the Youth Association of Nagaland (YAN), A Shyerhunlo Lorin, has appealed to senior members, pioneers and former office bearers of the organisation to come forward for its revival and restructuring.
In an appeal dated August 14, Lorin said YAN had served as "a unique forum and platform for youth leadership, community service, and socio-cultural development" since its inception, with its foundation laid by the vision and dedication of its former leaders.
He said the organisation had "slowly began to stagnate" over the past couple of years due to circumstances beyond its control, creating a void in youth coordination, representation and development.
Lorin said the absence of an active youth body was particularly felt at a time when society was facing challenges including unemployment, substance abuse and social unrest, alongside the need for constructive youth engagement.
Against this backdrop, he expressed his "sincere intent and serious commitment" to revive and restructure YAN in a responsible and transparent manner, while remaining true to its original principles and objectives.
However, he acknowledged that the process could not be undertaken individually. "The guidance, advice, and blessings of our revered elders are essential to make this process credible, representative, and enduring," he stated.
Lorin appealed to senior members, past office bearers and founding members to participate in consultations and provide advice on rebuilding the organisation's framework and redefining its priorities.
"Your collective wisdom will be a guiding element in rebuilding the organisational framework," he said, expressing hope that YAN could once again emerge as "a strong, united, and purposeful youth organisation for Naga welfare."
He also called for consultations to determine the way forward "with a sense of unity and mutual understanding."
