Phek (MExN): “Peace and Development are the two frontal agendum in DAN Government Common Minimum Programme, Nagaland can reach out for any substantial development activities provided there is unity and peace in our state,” said Dr. T.M. Lotha, Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Excise. He was speaking during the inaugural function of the Sub-Health Centre at Zapami Village.

Dr. Lotha informed, “There are around 550 Sub-Centers in Nagaland and 59 Sub-Health centers in Phek District alone.” With the rapid growth of Sub-Health Centres, the Minister called upon the villagers to be self dependent in order to bring about further development, saying that it has become a village property.

On the issue of Naga sovereignty, Dr. Lotha said, “If the different factions are really for the cause of sovereignty, then why can they not come together so that permanent settlement can be achieved? And pointed out that fratricide killings among the factions have posed and continues to pose threat in solving the vexed Naga political issue.” He added that it is the duty of the leaders of different factions to come and unite and not wait for someone to unite them. Recalling the atrocities carried by the Indian Armies in the mid 50’s and later, Dr. Lotha said that Nagas have suffered enough and at this juncture what the Nagas want and need is peace. Therefore, he strongly appealed the public not to oppose the peace process in Nagaland saying that it would invite further hatred and blood-shed among the Nagas.

K Therie, former Finance Minister who inaugurated Thezade Nhube in the same village also spoke during the function. He called upon all the leaders irrespective of overground or underground to brush aside all these prevailing immoralities and deliver freedom of profession to the people and also appealed the DAN partners to rededicate to the Common Minimum Programme.

Deo Nukhu, MLA, and Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, Nagaland, who also spoke on the occasion in a confidential tone said that the DAN Government would complete its full term and advised the people not to be confused on the rumors created by some self interested MLA’s within its fold. He also lamented on the sacking of K. Therie from Finance Ministership which is a big loss to the people of the 16th Pfutsero Constituency as a section and Chakhesang as a whole.

Earlier, the function was presided over by Dingulo Khutso and opening prayer was invoked by Rev. Dr. D. Kenye which was followed by welcome song by Kuzha Cultural Club, and welcome address by Mikha Kenye, President Z.A.P.O.
