Front line staff trained on awareness of Forest fire

Dimapur, March 13 (MExN): The State Environment & Forestry Training Institute (SEFTI), Nagaland, Dimapur conducted one day awareness training on “Forest Fire and its Control Measures” for the Frontline Staff of Forest dept. at Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar on March 13, 2011.
A press note informed that the day-long training started with an inaugural function chaired by Chasayi, Deputy Director, SEFTI, welcome address to the participants was given by Tongpang, Director, NZP, Rangapahar, followed by keynote address on the importance of the training was given by Imtiwabang, Director, SEFTI, Elusing Mero IFS, Secretary (Forest) exhorted the participants on the challenges and responsibilities on the part of frontline staff. Later, the Secretary (Forest) also had one to one interaction with the participants. Vote of thanks of the function was pronounced by Obed Sumi, i/c NZP, Rangapahar.
The first technical session started with the topic “ Forest fire - its type, causes and damages” was delivered by Chasayi, Dy.Director, SEFTI, followed by “The preventive and control measures of forest fire” was delivered by M.Obed Zeliang, Deputy Director, SEFTI. Later, the 2nd technical session was given by Bendangtemsu, Asstt. Director, SEFTI on “the uses of Forest fire fighting tools”, followed by practical field demonstration. The Director, SEFTI also presented 10 sets of Forest Fire Fighting Tools Kit bag designed & developed by ICFRE, Dehradun to the staff of NZP, Rangapahar.  Altogether 58 trainees participated the training.
