FSSAI certifies FBO units in Mokokchung Zone

Mokokchung, October 17 (MExN): In what can be considered as a first of its kind in Mokokchung Zone, under the initiative of Food Safety & Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) and Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, various food safety activities/audit were conducted by MS Certification Services LTD, Kolkata - an FSSAI empanelled agency and Food Safety wing, Mokokchung Zone.

According to a press release from the Office of the Mokokchung Chief Medical Officer, a total of 58 Food Business Operators (FBOs) including SHGs were trained and certified on FOSTAC while 20 restaurants and cafes were audited for hygiene rating out of which 6 achieved ‘excellent’ and 14 achieved ‘very good’ rating.

A total of 5 high risk units such as bakery and hotel were accessed out of which 2 got A+ and 3 got ‘B’ rating while one fruit and vegetable market in Mokokchung was certified as clean fruit and vegetable market.

The release also stated that Clark theological college (CTC) and Fazl Ali College Mokokchung are certified as models for ‘eat right campuses and the 23 Assam Rifles Mokokchung Mandir was also audited and certified under BHOG (Blissful & Hygienic Offering to God).

Further, 2 residential Schools, one in Mokokchung and the other in Zunheboto District are under the process of certification as models under Eat Right School, it added.

C Merenlemba, Designated Officer (Food Safety) stated that Food Safety Mokokchung Zone encompasses Mokokchung, Zunheboto, Tuensang and Longleng Districts. He also said that the upcoming cycle will cover the remaining districts of the Zone, the release stated.
