GBUD (S) expresses concern over multiple taxations

Dimapur, March 28 (MExN): The GBUD (S), GB Union Dimapur Sadar), today expressed concern over multiple taxations on all commodities resulting in burdening the general public in the form of exorbitant rise in prices.

The Naga Political Groups (NPGs) must “listen to the cry of their own people who are in great despair though the movement is supposed to be people centric cause,” stated a press release from the GBUD (S) President, W Kholie Kapfo and General Secretary, T. Onen Jamir.
Accordingly, the Union keeping in line with the Naga Council Dimapur reaffirmed the “Dimapur public resolution, ‘One Government, One Tax’ adopted on 31st October 2013.”

Meanwhile, while sharing its empathy with the empathy Department of Industries & Commerce on the harassment meted to the business community due to multiple taxations, the GBUD (S) opined that indefinite shutter down or bandh should only be the last resort considering the inconvenience to the public.

At the same time, it is not averse to support any extreme step if the menace of unabated multiple taxations continue, it added.
Nevertheless, the Union also cautioned the business establishments not to create artificial price rise scenario taking the undue advantage of the already aggravated situation putting the public in dire condition. 

To this end, the GBUD (S) urged the government machineries do deal sternly on those unscrupulous traders dealing in unfair business practices such as tampering of price tags, inferior quality at higher price etc. 

In order to curb anti-social elements and multiple taxations saga, any individuals or organizations in the guise of committees indulging in unauthorised collections should be curtailed since it is adding to the burden of the business community and affecting the society in the form of indirect price escalation, it further viewed. 

Cautions on misuse of GB seal
Meanwhile, the GBUD (S), citing a directive from the district administration, cautioned the use of the Gaon Bura’s (GB) seal and letter pad by thos  are not officially appointed and without registration number issued by the State government.

Such unauthorised activities by individual would be reported to the concern administration for necessary action, it said. 
The Union also informed GB members to submit a photo copy of appointment order and membership fee for the year 2024 latest by the month of April. 

Without enrolment as a member in the GBUD (S), no GB is entitled to participate in the union activities, it added.
