GCAVU responds to LLRSU

Dimapur, Feb 25 (MExN): The Governors Camp Area Village Union (GCAVU) has stated in a release that it was appalled on how the LLRSU had warned the Union and the organization for giving co-operation and support to the Border Magistrates in carrying out their assigned work in safeguarding and protecting the land and the people of the Nagas living in the DAB and that the GCAVU is not at all deterred by such warning of the LLRSU.

The joint release issued by Yihamo Tungoe, Secretary and N. Zankhomo Ovung, Chairman stated that while it appeared that the Government of Assam, LLRSU and LSU were in favour of withdrawing the resolution adopted at Border Magistrate level meeting at BOP Rengmapani on the November 9, 2005 and the subsequent circular issued by the Border Magistrate Uriamghat, Nagaland, the GCAVU fails to understand what actually transpired among LLRSU, LSU and the government of Assam, pressing for withdrawal of the same.

“If LLRSU ever had such concern for the land, it should have first tried to know the area where such adoption of resolution was required. It was embarrassing on the part of the LLRSU to have warned the Border Magistrate Uriamghat, Nagaland even without giving a single visit to the area and the people and that if the LLRSU was so concerned the organization should have met the Border Magistrate in question and discussed the issues before going to the press with all never ever heard derogatory and intimidating words which were very unpleasant for any upcoming decent society”, it stated.

The release stated that if the LLRSU was really serious in solving the problems of the people living in the area in question, they have been requested to visit the area, the people and also meet the Border Magistrates.“The LLRSU is directed to come out with detail facts and figures as to how much land has been sold out by those individuals and Unions alleged by the LLRSU to have been ’hand in glove’ with SDO (C) Ralan cum Border Magistrate Uriamghat, Nagaland”, it added.
