Dimapur, December 23 (MExN): President of the GPRN/NSCN Gen. (Retd) Khole Konyak extends Christmas greetings to all saying that the occasion is a time to “spread the message of joy, not violence.”
“It is an appropriate time for all nations and peoples to be happy and contended for Christmas is at our doorstep and it is a joyous time for all mankind to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace,” Khole said in his message received here today.
“It is Christmas time and despite the unfortunate events on the eve of Christmas among Naga brothers,” he said, there are “thousands of privileged and unprivileged parents, children, widows, orphans, in town and villages who eagerly planned and await good tidings this Christmas. I wish that ringing church bells, carols, laughter of children in towns and villages, hectic festive activities in honour of the Prince of Peace are not minimised or silenced by gunfights anywhere in Naga homeland.”
According to the GPRN/NSCN leader “we must humble ourselves and respect, maintain and share Christmas Spirit with our fellow beings,” as Christians. “No matter how high or low our positions may be, we are constantly reminded that all our activities and justifications here on earth are finally judged in Heaven. Despite our shortcomings, Christ the Saviour still cares for the Naga people.”
He further asserted that the GPRN/NSCN “stands on the principle of Nagaland for Christ and we believe there is a great hope that Naga people will be able to reason together and look towards a shared future.” Even Christ, he said, “the son of God, who was born of a virgin was not spared while He was on earth.” Man will continue to accuse and degrade one another “but I firmly believe that with a little bit of conscience, history will not easily be fooled,” the senior leader explained.
“May the joy of Christmas reach out to all those who desire peace in Naga homeland. May our towns and villages and all the inhabitants be filled with joy and happiness in equal measure which the little town of Bethlehem and her inhabitants experienced more than two thousand years ago, when that night, in a Manger, Mary’s little Boy was born.”
