Kiphire, December 9 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, T Wati Aier inaugurated the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kiphire on December 7. 

The Joint Director Industries & Commerce, Youth Net Kohima, DEO and the Staffs of GHSS, among others were present during the inauguration. 

According to a press release, Aier in his speech encouraged the students to make best use of the centre and to set education as the first priority in their life. 

Skill development is a process of identification of the skills gap in youth and providing training and employment benefits to them, he said and expressed his optimism that the EDC will benefits the students as well as those unemployed people.

The DC further requested them to use it wisely even in the days to come.

Also addressing the event, Joint Director, Industries & Commerce, Lipongse Sangtam regretted that the people in the State have limited knowledge about entrepreneurship.

Many people only want to start their business on a large scale and fail, he said. 

Sangtam also appealed the students to take advantage of the EDC and look at the future and to be prepared. 

He further informed that if anyone is interested in online entrepreneurship development course from recognised institutions, they can go for free admission and free course and right after completion of the course, they will be ‘reverted’ back by the state Government. 

He also urged all the students to take it as a privilege since the department will assist them financially in every aspect. 
Meanwhile, an overview of EDC was also presented by the Youth Net Kohima.

‘EDC is a hand on entrepreneurship mindset programme which gives participants opportunity to develop essential mindset and skills through the experience of doing a real business, the release added.
