Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): A book titled ‘Glamour Amid Turbulence: Muted Echoes of Rev Subongwati Tending the Baptist Flock in the British Naga Hills and Beyond (1909-1935)’ written by K Talitemsu was launched on March 26.
Published by Heritage Publishing House (HPH), the book was release by Rev Dr N Tzudir at the residence of Imchalemba Ex-MP.
The publishing house in a press release stated that the author is one of the grandsons of Rev Subongwati and the book is about the life story of Rev Subongwati and the narratives that revolve around his life such as pastoral care service, social service, and transformation in the church administration of various Naga tribes.
In his speech, Imchalemba, the grandson of Rev Subongwati, shared how the story of the Reverend being the “first ordained minister of God among the Nagas, was not found in any written form.” Thus, he felt an urgent need to note down the story and contribution of Rev Subongwati for which the author took the assignment.
In the author’s address, Talitemsu explained why he named the book Glamour Amid Turbulence. Similar to a turbulence, Naga society was in a confused state during Rev Subongwati’s time but despite the confused and blurry state, like glamour, he contributed to the progress of Naga church and society.
