GOC 3 Corps launches Kohima Orphanage into Cyber Space

DIMAPUR, DEC 6 (MExN): Lt Gen Z U Shah, SM, VSM launched a Website for Kohima Orphanage and Destitute home Kohima. The website has been developed by Assam Rifles Bn located in Kohima. 

The website is available at the URL www.kohimaorphanage.org. It may be mentioned that the Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) have taken the Orphanage under its wings and have been lending help and support to the humanitarian task that Mrs Zaputuo has single handedly undertaken. 

Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Z U Shah appreciated the selfless task that Mrs Zaputuo has undertaken and complimented the IGAR (N) and 2 Assam Rifles in particular for the excellent work in developing the website. 

He expressed hope that the website will bring about a much needed awareness amongst the citizens of the world and also enlist support and child sponsorship from all over the Globe.

In keeping with the policy enunciated by the IGAR (N) the occasion was also marked by the formal adoption of 09 children of the Orphanage by various units of the Assam Rifles. Mrs Zaputuo Angami formally handed over the children to the representatives of the sponsoring unit.

The GOC 3 Corps was also briefed about the oncoming excursion of the children of Kohima Orphanage to Delhi, Agra and Jaipur being carried out by the Assam Rifles during 09 to 21 Dec 2005. 

He was also introduced to Mr Sedevi Angami and Mr Kethosilie Angami who have been selected in the Indian Navy after having undergone Pre Recruitment Training in 2 Assam Rifles. 

The children of the Orphanage later presented a painting made by them to Mrs Sabiha Simi Shah, President 3 Corps AWWA who was also present on the occasion.
