Nagaland Health & Family Welfare Minister P Paiwang Konyak on Saturday stated that the central government has recently conveyed to the state government that a new Greenfield AIIMS may be considered for Nagaland provided the state government make sufficient land available for its establishment.
“Accordingly, the health & family welfare department has submitted its proposal for AIIMS with 200 acres of land at the proposed Nagaki City in Chümoukedima to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India,” the minister said in Independence Day speech at 80th Independence Day celebration at RSA Ground, Tseminyu.
The Minister stated that the department of health and family welfare continue to implement key strategies towards a TB- Free Nagaland in line with the National Strategic Plan.
In collaboration with the Rural Development department, 214 villages were declared TB- Free on World TB Day, Paiwang said.
He stated that the department has launched the 100-Day Ayushmnan Student Coverage Mission across all districts in May 2026 to achieve Universal Health Coverage and 100% Ayushman card saturation among eligible citizens. He also highlighted various schemes and policies of the state government for progressive Nagaland.
Earlier, the Minister hoisted National flag and took salute from parade contingents of 4th NAP ‘B’ Coy and Ex-servicemen, Tseminyu. He also gave away District Commendation award and also inaugurated exhibition stalls.
MLA Ar Jwenga Seb, Tseminyu Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch, Tseminyu Superintendent of Police (SP) Talisunep Imchen and other government official and public leaders present at the celebration.
The celebration was marked by National song, National anthem, presentation of folk song, visit to hospital & orphanage by IRCS and Banks and football exhibition match.
