Gorkhas of Dmp honour martyrs Maj. Malla and Capt. Kengruse

The Dimapur Gorkha Union (DGU) commemorating the 74th death anniversary of the First Gorkha Martyr Maj. Durga Malla and honouring the sacrifice of Kargil Martyr Capt. N. Kenguruse (Mahavir Chakra) organised a blood donation camp in Dimapur on August 25. A freedom fighter, Maj. Malla was executed by the British India government on August 25, 1944.  

Today’s was the eighth consecutive time the union had organised such an event. According to the DGU chairman, Kumar Subba, volunteers from the 23 federating units of the union responded to the altruistic call. He added that he would want the union to continue with initiative even in the years to come.  

Dr. Temsu, Medical Officer in-charge of the Blood Bank, District Hospital, Dimapur said that 80 units were collected in total. He expressed gratitude to the DGU for keeping the humanitarian gesture alive. “They have been so dependable, never failing to help save a life,” commented Dr. Temsu, while adding that he would want the union to continue doing so.
