Raj Bhavan Kohima celebrated Rajasthan State Foundation Day.
Kohima, March 29 (MExN): Raj Bhavan Kohima celebrated Rajasthan State Foundation Day under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event highlighted Rajasthan’s rich cultural heritage while strengthening the deep-rooted ties between the people of Nagaland and the Rajasthani community residing in the state, PRO, Raj Bhavan Kohima stated in a press release.
Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of cultural unity and mutual respect. “The Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative reminds us that our strength as a nation lies in embracing the unique cultures, traditions, and histories that each state brings to our national tapestry,” he said. “Today, as we celebrate Rajasthan Day here in Kohima, we reaffirm this spirit of cultural solidarity.”
The Governor praised Rajasthan as the “Land of Kings,” noting its remarkable history of valor, its vibrant artistic traditions, and its deep cultural roots. “From the golden sands of the Thar Desert to the magnificent forts of Jaipur, Rajasthan’s legacy is one of courage, art, and heritage that resonates with the soul of India,” he stated.
The Governor also lauded the contributions of the Rajasthani community in Nagaland, recognising their role in trade, entrepreneurship, education, and craftsmanship. He acknowledged their significant contributions to the state’s economy and social fabric, calling their presence an example of harmonious coexistence.
“From the bustling markets of Dimapur to the serene hills of Kohima and beyond, Rajasthanis have made Nagaland their home, working hand in hand with the local communities,” The Governor remarked. “Their entrepreneurial spirit has strengthened local markets, their craftsmanship has enriched our culture, and their dedication to education has empowered countless Naga youths.”
The Governor encouraged deeper engagement between Naga’s and the Rajasthani community, envisioning joint efforts in entrepreneurship and sustainable development along with fostering new collaborations in business, innovation, and education between the two states.
Concluding his address, Governor La Ganesan expressed his appreciation for all participants, artists, and members of the Rajasthani community in Nagaland for their efforts in making the event a success. He reaffirmed the importance of national unity and cultural solidarity, expressing hope that the friendship between Nagaland and Rajasthan would continue to grow and inspire future generations.
The celebration featured cultural performances showcasing Rajasthan’s rich artistic heritage, which included matka dance by Sheetal Baid and friends, kalbeliya dance by Chitra Damani and friends, puppet dance by Nandani Agarwal and friends, moriya dance by Saraswati Sharma and friends and Chang by Ram Prasad and friends.
Commissioner & Secretary to Governor, Rajesh Soundararajn, gave the opening remarks. Speech on Rajasthan state was said by, Basu Damani, General Secretary, Shree Marwari Sammelan Nagaland. Vote of thanks was delivered by Junior Section Officer, Ngope Zehol.
