KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 13 (MExN): Nagaland Governor, RN Ravi has extended Ahuna and Diwali greetings to the people of the State.
A press release from the Governor said that Ahuna festival of the Sumi community is a “significant part of our rich cultural heritage.”
“Ahuna is celebrated in purity of body and mind, and in gratitude for a bountiful harvest. I am hopeful that the festive spirit of oneness and bonding would restore our faith and usher us towards peace and progress,” he stated. Ravi urged the Sumi community to continue demonstrating their exemplary leadership in guiding the people of Nagaland to “overcome the situation we are facing today.”
Meanwhile, extending Diwali greetings, the Governor stated that this festival signifies victory of light over darkness, good over evil, truth over falsehood and knowledge over ignorance. “Cleaning and decorating homes and office premises with colours mark the celebrations. It gives an opportunity for the people to spend time together and foster good relationships in the family, work place and society,” the Governor said. He further appealed that the festivals be celebrated while observing all COVID-19 protocols.
