
Dimapur, October 31 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland and Assam Prof Jagdish Mukhi lauded the objectives and work of the Janjati Vikas Samiti Nagaland during the annual Diwali Milan on October 30 at Signal Angami Basti, Dimapur.
According to a DIPR report, the Governor mentioned that India was growing faster in the last eight to nine years, becoming the 5th growing country in the world and also the 4th powerful country in the world. He also said that policies announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are achieved and maintained that electricityhas reached every village and every house now has toilet facilities. Similarly, he said that in last couple of years, more than 4.5 crore gas connections were given free to poor villagers and the next dream of the government is to achieve Har Ghar Jal by 2023.
In Nagaland about 60% houses in villages are getting tap water and the rest will be able to get the same by 2023, the Governorsaid while noting that the government alone could not achieve its goal or make the plans successful without the involvement of the citizens.
The DIPR stated that Diwali Milan is an annual event of Janjati Vikas Samiti Nagaland celebrated every year post Diwali.Janjati VikasSamiti Nagaland (JVSN) is a national organisation having its branches all over the country working towards the uplift of tribal people in the country through proper education, good health, traditional culture and by supporting them to get respectable employment or profession.
Meanwhile, guest of honour, Bhagwan Sahay, a national executive of Janjati Vikas Samiti stationed at Rajasthan explained about three core values in life, and cited how the students of Janjati Vikas Samiti makes dreams into reality. He informed that a student from Nagaland became a scientist and is presently in ISRO with the support of JVSN and maintained that the Samiti is working for 10.39 crore tribals and also running hostels and schools in the country.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Commissioner Secretary, Government of Nagaland, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Deputy Commissioner of Police apart from community leaders, well wishes, students, teachers and workers of JVSN, the DIPR report stated.
