Mokokchung, March 16 (MExN): The central Government is committed to provide access to safe and adequate water supply through individual household tap connection (FHTC) or easily accessible public fountain in all villages of the state in a phase manner. The scheme is been launched through the flagship programme called Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
Minister for PHED Jacob Zhimomi announced this during commissioning programme of the project ‘Augmentation of Water Supply to five villages in Japukong Range’ at Yajang C village under Mokokchung District on March 16.
The Minister also added that Department is currently implementing the JJM scheme in phase manner in the District too. In this regard, Zhimomi urged the people to actively help the department through their participation as no work would be successful without their active participation.
He also disclosed that State Government plans to start road connectivity development in rest of the SUBDIVISION as road connectivity in the District headquarters is almost complete.
During the event, Minister Temjem Imna Along expressed appreciation to the former Minister Dr Benjongliba Aier for his initiation to provide access to safe and adequate water supply to the people and the dream has been finally been commission today with cooperation and support from the people. He further lauded the incumbent minister for his dedication to complete the project in time frame manner.
It may be mentioned that the project “Augmentation of Water Supply Scheme through stream Water source to five villages in Japukong Range, Mokokchung” funded by North Eastern Council (NEC) started in 2014 and completed in 2020.
The project cost amounting to Rs 484.74 lakhs was implemented to provide water supply to the five villages namely Yajang A, Yajang C, Liremen, Akumen and Tzuremen villages from streams sources located near the village vicinity.
The project was commission on March 16 in the presence of Minister Temjen Imna Along, Advisor Kazheto Kinimi, Chief Engineer PHED and five village Councils.
