Govt Polytechnic Seithekema C marks ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 26 (MExN): The Government Polytechnic Seithekema C, Dimapur supported by the India Ministry of Earth Sciences organized ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on the theme ‘maintaining natural resources’ on November 24 and 25.

The programme witnessed participation of 90 college students and 60 school students taking part in essay writing and drawing competition on the theme.

During the inaugural programme, Sulanthung Ngullie, Demonstrator pronounced the welcome address which was followed by keynote address delivered by Er Zhapulhoulie Rupreo, Principal, Government Polytechnic Seithekema C, Dimapur. Dr Tolto Metha, Team Member, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency presented an expert lecture on the theme. Dr Metha stressed on conserving and preserving trees, highlighting the benefits that trees give to the planet. Dwelling on the effects of global warming, the speaker urged the students and all present to plant more trees to combat it. Various benefits of planting bamboo were also shared to the gathering.

The valedictory session was held on November 25. The declaration of results was done by Imnasangba Jamir, Senior Lecturer, while cash prizes along with certificates were given away to the winners by Er Zhapulhoulie Rupreo, Principal, GPSD.

In the drawing competition (high school section) Aslima Khatun, Class VIII, Bethel Faith School won the first position and in the college section Vikedokho Khawakhrie, Semester I, GPSD was the winner; in the essay writing competition (High School Section) Wonchibeni Kikon, Class X, Bethel Faith School won first while in the college section, Lemlia Thonger, Semester V, GPSD came first.
