The dedication of the much awaited Development of Underdeveloped Areas (DUDA) Guest House by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio here this morning near G Rio School, has brought about loads of cheer from the people of Tuensang, Mon, Longleng and Kiphire districts.

“I am sure that the Guest House will immensely benefit the people from four districts,” Rio said and termed such a development as an added achievement of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government.

With the formation of the DAN ministry, it has immediately created the department of Development of Underdeveloped Areas (DUDA) as per its commitment made in the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) to give special emphasis for the backward areas particularly Mon and Tuensang districts, Rio said.

DUDA has been created to look after the needs of the backwards areas and to speed up development.

The government has also created three new districts- Peren, Longleng and Kiphire- to fulfill our commitment made during the 2003 elections, Rio added.

Rio expressed confidence that the people would make the best use of the Guest House and it would ease the accommodation problem for the people coming from far-flung areas.

The government has stepped up the fund allocation for DUDA because we trust the department officers, we trust the legislators” for using the funds efficiently, the chief minister said.

In order to create mass awareness, Rio also stressed on the need to organize more seminars and workshops in all the important places.

Unless the people are properly trained about the judicious use of money for socio- economic and infrastructure development, things will not go well as it is planned, Rio maintained. A lot of seminars have to be taken up, be it in health care, productivity and all other areas.

Further, Rio wanted that quality construction is ensured elsewhere in the state, saying “we have to do everything permanently” so as to avoid any additional expenses. It is time to learn to do good things and use good things, Rio said.

The Guest House, with around 40 rooms, will provide accommodation at nominal rate to the people coming from far-flung places.
