Govt’s insincerity has demoralized deserving teachers: ANPSTA says

Association decries backdoor appointments

Kohima, June 26 (MExN): The All Nagaland Pre-Service Teachers Association (ANPSTA) on June 26 expressed shock over the disarray in the Department of School Education (DoSE) with regard to backdoor appointments.

The Association was reacting to an RTI reply dated March 2, 2021 which revealed that 1,803 backdoor appointments of Grade-III staff under the Education Department during 2010 to 2020.

The ANPSTA stated that the “insincerity and the mugger attitude” of the concerned department and the State government have demoralized deserving trained teachers who have completed the requisite course.

It alleged that the menace of backdoor appointments involving the 1,803 teacher posts has been created by those in power “for their personal greed and political mileage” without considering the negative impact on the State’s education system.

The Association wondered as to why “colossal numbers totaling more than 4,000 trained teachers are shadowed in dark with no arrays of hope,” and questioned on what grounds the deserving are deprived of their rights and untrained backdoor appointees are enjoying the privilege.

Through a press statement, ANPSTA President Khriekuo Miario and General Secretary Botika A Sumi implored the concerned department and the State government for an equitable and fair decision and to “give credit where it is due…”

ANPSTA further reminded the State government and the concerned department to advertise 166 primary teacher posts that is currently lying vacant as per the RTI. It also appealed for appointment of B.Ed and D.EL.Ed trainees through fair disposition. Further, the Association warned of “democratic action which shall be borne by the concerned department,” in case of any attempt to circumvent their rights.
