Kohima, August 14 (MExN): The GPRN/NNC (AB), under the leadership of S.S. Pongkhu Naga, has cautioned Francis Kikon against using the name, identity or authority of the organisation, stating that he has had no connection with or authority to represent it since his removal on July 1, 2025.
The warning was issued following an emergency meeting convened on August 14 by S.S. Pongkhu Naga along with collective leaders, Tatar Hoho, the Naga Army Wing and all regional presidents to condemn what it described as the purported use of the name and identity of the GPRN/NNC (AB) by Kikon.
The Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) said the GPRN/NNC (AB) is a “people’s government” and not an individual government.
It stated that Kikon, who had temporarily served as Acting General Secretary, was removed from the government on July 1, 2025, citing alleged misconduct, improper financial management and his inability to effectively lead the government.
The President also stated that the GPRN/NNC (AB) government had actively participated in meetings convened by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) on more than 17 occasions, along with the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), at various locations.
The leadership, however, expressed concern over the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on July 5, 2025, between NSCN/GPRN (U) President M.B. Neokpao, Konyak and Ato Kilonser Alezo Venuh, and Francis Kikon.
The GPRN/NNC (AB) leadership said the arrangement had no basis in relation to the organisation and could create confusion among the Naga people.
It maintained that Kikon had been removed from the GPRN/NNC (AB) on July 1, 2025, and therefore had no authority to represent the organisation when the MoU was signed.
The GPRN/NNC (AB), under S.S. Pongkhu Naga, strongly warned Kikon against continuing to use its name, identity or authority in any form.
It said any such action would invite appropriate measures in accordance with the Yehzabo (Constitution), and that Kikon would be held fully responsible for any consequences arising from such actions.
The GPRN/NNC (AB) also resolved to extend its full support and cooperation to N.K. Kitovi Zhomomi, Convenor of the Working Committee of the NNPGs, until a political solution to the Naga issue is achieved.
