DIMAPUR, JULY 5 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has pointed out that it had entered into a Cease Fire with the Government of India (GoI) in the month of April, 2001, so that atmosphere conducive for peaceful dialogue to resolve the Indo-Naga political issue could be expedited. According to a press note issued by the MIP GPRN/NSCN this Cease-Fire came into being “through the initiative of the Ato Kilonser Mr. N. Kitovi Zhimomi” and therefore the “question of Mr. S.S. Khaplang a Burmese does arise as his sanctuary does not fall under the purview of the Cease-Fire that is across the international border”.
Stating that the “GPRN is firmly established under Democratic Socialism”, it pointed out that “none in within can supersede the National Yezahbo dictatorially”. “It is clearly enshrined in the Yezahbo that no one is above the Law of the land or the nation. Elections or impeachments in the National Assembly are conducted by observing democratic processes abiding by the code of conventions. Therefore, the collective decisions arrived upon by the National Assembly attended by 99.0% of Members of the House remains legitimate and out of question”, stated the MIP note. As such it pointed out that the “issue of Mr. S.S. Khaplang after being impeached and expelled out of the government/Party, and then himself expelling or impeaching anyone is hence out of question”. In this regard, the MIP note stated that the “current mud-slinging and character assassinations are nothing but naive acts by illegitimate renegades, out to tarnish the image of the GPRN/NSCN”.
The MIP note therefore cautioned “all Nagas are to beware of these elements that are trying to spread the shadow of fear psychosis and permeating confusion among the masses” while citing what it described as the “trend of bombing public places, trade centres, etc. in order to spread threat upon innocent victims, so that they succumb to their extortion demands have surfaced”.
It stated that the Naga people cannot be held hostage today by a “handful of individual group from Suruhuto designated camp, GHQ and Changlang District of Arunachal with their top banana holed with the North Eastern insurgents in the border of Arunachal Pradesh”. “However hard these rogue renegades try to whitewash themselves incognito as nationalist, preaching their gospel of reconciliation, peace and legitimacy; it would be like a fox trying to act like a lamb, but with the setting of dawn his identity is betrayed by his own howls, for it is their nature, inborn”.
Stating that it did not deem fit for the GPRN “to stoop so low in a debate with the misled”, it pointed out that it was “a shame in exposing our brother’s misdeeds, but to dispel confusion it has become necessary to highlight some food for thought”. “May good sense prevail and our Almighty Lord bless the Nagas, so that there are no more fratricides and permanent peace is ushered in our land. Let us hope that the endeavour of the FNR bear its fruits”, it stated.
