GPRN/NSCN informs on ID drive for non-Nagas

Dimapur, November 28 (MExN): Based on the meeting of GBs and Council Chairmen of villages, colonies, wards and Khels of Dimapur on 2nd October at Designated Camp Khehoi and the meeting of all Non-Naga Community leaders at Hotel Saramati on 28th October, 2012, GPRN/NSCN through its Kilo Ministry, in co-ordination with UT I and other Regional authorities, has begun the first phase of Identification drive for all Non-Nagas above the age of fifteen in Nagaland. Indian Paramilitary forces and government job holders are exempted from this initiative. This was informed in a press note issued by the MIP GPRN/NSCN.

According to the press note, the main aim is to control the influx or non-locals into Nagaland, particularly the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. “The crime graph against Nagas by non-locals is increasing. Illegal entry is a threat to Naga society and future”, the MIP note stated.  

All Non-Nagas above the age of fifteen are required to report to GPRN/NSCN officials’ in-charge of colonies and wards before 18th of December. Left Thumb Impression, name, gender, permanent and temporary addresses are compulsorily being sought, it was informed. 

It was informed that random checking will be conducted and left thumb impressions will be retaken to check that I.D cards are not misused. Those without I.D cards after the stipulated time shall be penalised. Non-Nagas who have been residing in Nagaland since 1962 are required to produce relevant documents for exemption.

GPRN/NSCN requested the District Administration, Law enforcing agencies, GBs and community elders to co-operate in this “noble endeavour”.
